Step 2

Welcome to Step 2 of the 3-Step Masterclass.

In Step 1, you explored how to reframe your body’s fear response, so that a racing heart, shaky hands or butterflies do not automatically mean “I can’t do this.”

Now we’re going to look at the body.

When fear shows up, our bodies often try to protect us. We shrink, tense, hold our breath, look down or make ourselves smaller.

But the way you stand, breathe and take up space can also help you feel steadier and more ready to speak.

So, what would change if you gave your body a different message?

How much taller would you stand?

How much more grounded would you feel?

How much more present would you look?

Step 2 is all about using your posture and physical presence to support yourself before you speak.

Watch the video to learn this simple, practical technique.

Try it with me and notice what changes.

You can use this technique before a presentation, meeting, interview, networking moment or any situation where fear of speaking might show up.

It may not remove the fear completely, but it can help you feel more grounded, more energised and more ready to take action.

If you’re curious about the researcher I mention in the video, Amy Cuddy, and her work on body language, you can watch her TED Talk.

Step 1

Your trainer - Helen von Dadelszen

I believe that everyone can learn to speak with more confidence, clarity and conviction.

Confidence is not a personality trait that some people have and others don’t. It is a skill that can be built through practice, support and small courageous actions.

Over the years, I’ve seen so many dedicated professionals with important work, missions, research and ideas hold themselves back because speaking feels frightening, uncomfortable or overwhelming.

I decided to do something about it.

As a communication coach, speaker, vocal coach and author of Courageous Action, I help professionals speak up, share their ideas and get their message across with more confidence.

My work combines my background in theatre, singing, recruitment, coaching, communication training and my own lived experience of fear around public speaking.

I know what it is like to feel your heart race, your mouth go dry and your body tell you to stop.

And I also know that fear of speaking does not mean you are not capable.

It means your body needs support, your message matters and your confidence can be built one small step at a time.

In this masterclass, I’ll guide you through 3 practical techniques to help you steady your body, shift your focus and speak with more confidence when it matters.
